Travel Snacks

I don’t know about you but traveling always makes me a bit hungry. Sometimes I can’t afford the things they sell at the airport and travel centers or the food isn’t that great the offer. I’m a vegetarian so it’s extra hard to find food while traveling. During road trips, most of the restaurants off the interstate exits are fast-food burger joints. Having experienced this, I know it’s important to think ahead of time and pack some good travel snacks.

  • Protein bars! I love Nature Valley the most. Special K is also a good brand. They contain your protein and carbohydrates, are delicious, and quite filling.
  • Sandwiches. Can’t go wrong with packing some sandwiches. Could go classic PB &J. Could make subs. I’d recommend keeping them in a cooler with the drinks.
  • Chips/Crisps. Not exactly healthy but great to much on and easy to take with you. You could also look into veggie chips.
  • Pretzel sticks. The slightly healthier alternative to crisps.
  • Fruit snacks. Great for kids.
  • Babybel cheese wheels. Can apparently last for a while without refrigeration and are packed with protein.
  • Dried fruit. It’s sweet, it’s one of your five a day, and it doesn’t need to be in the fridge.
  • Skinny Pop popcorn–good for popcorn lovers without the usual buttery fat.
  • Mixed nuts. Another good provider of protein and healthy fats.

Happy snacking!
